  • Early Morning Hotel Pick-up: Your adventure begins early in the morning with pick-up from your hotel in Arequipa. Travel through the breathtaking Andean landscapes as you gradually ascend into the highlands, surrounded by volcanoes and expansive plains.
  • During the journey, your guide will explain the history, geography, and traditions of the Colca Valley and its local communities.
  • Pampa Cañahuas National Reserve: Your first stop is the Pampa Cañahuas National Reserve, part of the Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve, where you'll have the opportunity to observe wild vicuñas roaming freely across the high-altitude grasslands.
  • This protected area is also home to llamas, alpacas, Andean birds, and unique native vegetation that thrives in the harsh mountain environment.
  • Patapampa Viewpoint: Continue ascending to Patapampa, one of the highest points along the route at approximately 4,910 meters (16,108 feet) above sea level.
  • Known as the "Viewpoint of the Andes," this spectacular location offers panoramic views of several snow-capped volcanoes, including Misti, Chachani, Ampato, Sabancaya, and Hualca Hualca.
  • Take time to admire the breathtaking scenery and capture unforgettable photographs.
  • Arrival in Chivay: Descend into the Colca Valley and arrive in the picturesque town of Chivay, where you'll have time to enjoy lunch at a local restaurant (optional).
  • Chivay serves as the gateway to the Colca Canyon and offers a glimpse into the traditions and hospitality of the local Andean communities.
  • Cruz del Cóndor Viewpoint: Continue to the highlight of the tour: the famous Cruz del Cóndor Viewpoint.
  • Here, you'll witness the immense scale of Colca Canyon while watching the magnificent Andean condors glide effortlessly on the rising thermal currents. With wingspans reaching over three meters (10 feet), these iconic birds are among the largest flying birds in the world.
  • Your guide will explain the biological importance of the condor as well as its symbolic role in Andean culture.
  • Traditional Villages: On the return journey, visit traditional villages such as Maca and Yanque, where colonial churches, charming plazas, and local handicraft markets reflect centuries of Andean heritage.
  • Learn about local customs, agriculture, and the unique way of life that has endured in the Colca Valley for generations.
  • Optional Hot Springs: Depending on the tour schedule, you'll have the opportunity to visit the relaxing La Calera Hot Springs (optional), where naturally heated mineral waters provide a perfect way to unwind while surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery.
  • Return to Arequipa: In the afternoon, begin the return journey to Arequipa, arriving in the evening after an unforgettable day exploring one of Peru's most spectacular natural landscapes.
