Walk in the Footsteps of the Incas to Machu Picchu
Experience one of the world’s most iconic trekking adventures on the 4-Day Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. This extraordinary journey takes you along ancient Inca pathways, through spectacular Andean landscapes, lush cloud forests, and fascinating archaeological sites.
Over four days, you will hike through a remarkable combination of mountains, valleys, forests, and Inca ruins while following the historic route that leads directly to Machu Picchu. Along the way, you will cross the famous Dead Woman’s Pass, visit impressive archaeological sites, and enjoy breathtaking views of the Andes.
The trek culminates at Sun Gate (Inti Punku), where you will have your first spectacular view of Machu Picchu before completing your adventure with a guided visit to the legendary Inca citadel on the fourth day.
- Your adventure begins early in the morning with pickup from your hotel in Cusco. You will travel by tourist transportation toward Km 82, the starting point of the Inca Trail.
- After meeting the trekking team and completing the necessary entrance procedures, you will begin hiking along the ancient Inca path.
- The first day is relatively gentle, allowing you to gradually adapt to the trail while enjoying views of the Vilcanota River, Andean mountains, and traditional communities.
- Along the route, you will visit archaeological sites and learn about the history of the Inca civilization from your professional guide.
- After several hours of trekking, you will arrive at the first campsite in Wayllabamba, where dinner will be served.
- Overnight at the campsite.
- After breakfast, you will begin the most challenging day of the trek.
- The trail climbs gradually through high-altitude landscapes toward Dead Woman's Pass (Warmiwañusca), located at approximately 4,215 meters (13,828 feet) above sea level.
- Reaching the pass is a rewarding experience, offering impressive panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. After a short rest, you will begin the descent toward the Pacaymayo Valley.
- This section of the trail combines demanding climbs and descents, making it an unforgettable day for adventure lovers.
- Upon reaching the campsite, you will have time to rest and enjoy dinner.
- Overnight at the campsite.
- After breakfast, you will continue along the ancient Inca Trail.
- The route includes several stone stairways and archaeological sites, including Runkurakay, Sayacmarca, and Phuyupatamarca. Each site offers a glimpse into the incredible engineering and organization of the Inca civilization.
- You will then continue through the cloud forest toward Wiñay Wayna, one of the most spectacular archaeological sites along the trail.
- After exploring the site, you will continue toward Inti Punku (Sun Gate). From here, you will enjoy your first panoramic view of Machu Picchu.
- You will then continue toward the final viewpoint before taking transportation to Aguas Calientes, where you will check into your hotel and enjoy a well-deserved rest.
- Overnight in Aguas Calientes.
- After breakfast, you will travel by bus to the entrance of Machu Picchu.
- Your professional guide will lead you through the designated visiting circuit, explaining the history, architecture, religious significance, and cultural importance of this extraordinary Inca citadel.
- You will have time to appreciate the magnificent surroundings and take photographs according to the regulations established for visitors.
- After the guided tour, you will return to Aguas Calientes for lunch on your own before boarding the train back toward the Sacred Valley.
- Upon arrival at the designated train station, transportation will be waiting to take you back to Cusco.
