- Early Morning Hotel Pick-up: Your adventure begins very early in the morning with hotel pick-up from your accommodation in Cusco. Depending on your train schedule, you will travel by tourist transportation to the train station in Ollantaytambo or Poroy while enjoying the scenic landscapes of the Sacred Valley.
- Train Journey to Aguas Calientes: Board the train and begin one of the most spectacular railway journeys in the world. As the train travels alongside the Urubamba River, you'll witness dramatic mountain scenery, changing ecosystems, and breathtaking views as the high Andes gradually give way to the lush cloud forest surrounding Machu Picchu.
- After approximately one and a half to two hours, arrive in the town of Aguas Calientes, also known as Machu Picchu Pueblo.
- Bus Ride to Machu Picchu: Upon arrival, meet your guide and board the shuttle bus that ascends the winding road to the entrance of Machu Picchu. During the short ride, enjoy impressive views of the surrounding mountains and the deep valley below.
- Guided Tour of Machu Picchu: Enter the magnificent Inca citadel and begin a guided exploration through one of the world's most extraordinary archaeological sites. Walk among ancient stone temples, ceremonial plazas, terraces, and residential sectors while learning about the history, architecture, and theories surrounding the purpose of Machu Picchu.
- Your guide will explain the significance of important sectors within the citadel, the advanced engineering techniques employed by the Incas, and the cultural importance of this sacred sanctuary. Throughout the visit, you'll have opportunities to admire the breathtaking mountain scenery and capture unforgettable photographs of this iconic destination.
- Free Time: Depending on your entrance schedule and train departure time, you may have some free time to continue enjoying the surroundings, take additional photographs, or relax before returning to Aguas Calientes.
- Return to Aguas Calientes: Board the shuttle bus back to Aguas Calientes. You will have time to explore the town, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, or browse the artisan market before your scheduled train departure.
- Train Back to Ollantaytambo: In the afternoon or evening, board the return train and enjoy another scenic journey through the Sacred Valley while reflecting on your unforgettable experience at Machu Picchu.
- Transfer to Cusco: Upon arrival at the train station, tourist transportation will be waiting to transfer you back to Cusco. The tour concludes with drop-off near your hotel or in the historic center of the city.
